Volunteers

We currently have 31 Volunteers offering their services to us. They work in a wide range of capacities from making tea, to transporting people by car to Chairing the organisation. It is the dedication of our Volunteers that makes our organisation such a success.

We strongly believe that people grow in confidence and self esteem through learning and it almost does not matter what learning takes place for people to show significant improvement to their emotional wellbeing.

We run training courses primarily for our Volunteers and staff. However, we make a point of advertising all training and development events to the whole Membership and encouraging anyone to attend who is inclined to do so.

We also run events for the wider Membership such as “Keeping Safe” and Assertiveness. The Keeping Safe course is designed to help our Members identify when they are being abused and what to do to bring alleged abuse to our notice, the notice of social services and/or the police.

We like to offer our Volunteers and staff a wide range of developmental activities as we know that by increasing the quality of the skills of our people, we are able to increase the quality of the services we can offer to our Members.

We believe that almost all of our Members have the capacity to help and support their fellow Members through Volunteering. It is by offering their services and having them recognised that (as with training courses) people grow in confidence and self esteem.
